SpeedPro Signs in Medicine Hat is planing to distribute decals that are intended for labelling products that are made in Canada.

The sign shop as early as Tuesday will be giving away free rolls of decals, or 100 labels per individual, for small businesses to label their goods.

With 25% U.S. tariffs that are now set to be implemented next month, the shop wants to help consumers determine what products are made in Canada.

Scott Earl, co-owner and production manager of SpeedPro Signs, said that if they can help in the smallest ways, we all help each other — and that’s the end goal.

“You have to nurture your crop at home first,” he said.

Earl said he did not realize the talent we have in our own communities, until he went out of his way to find Canadian made products in grocery stores.

He said knowing where your products are coming from is important. Small communities are about helping each other, not tearing each other down, he added.

“People are now realizing it’s time to start focusing on our own economies, and growing our own economies,” he said.

“We work with businesses that start off as a simple label on the back of a truck, and several of them have grown into much more than that,” he added.

“Us helping by a simple decal or label will just help us nurture and grow those crops in-house, in Medicine Hat.”

Earl says that he wants to see businesses succeed by doing small things like this, that might change the course or path of their business.
