Premier Smith appoints ministers and MLAs to cabinet policy committees

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has unveiled the names of the ministers and MLAs who will serve on the government’s cabinet policy committee.

On Monday, Smith said she’s proud of those who are stepping up to take on additional responsibilities for the people of Alberta.

“Each committee member will bring invaluable insight and new perspectives reflecting the diversity of their own experiences,” Smith said. “I look forward to working together on Alberta’s priorities – growing our economy and building strong, safe communities.”

In addition to naming new cabinet policy committee members, Premier Smith named MLA for Red Deer-South Jason Stephan, as parliamentary secretary for constitutional affairs on May 21.

“I am committed to standing up for Alberta and ensuring our constitutional rights are respected and upheld,” Stephan said. “The Constitution of Canada is to provide a check and balance against abuse of power by government and protect Alberta from destructive overreach by the federal government. It is vital that Alberta’s voice is strong and clear for the Constitution to be interpreted and applied fairly and with integrity. I look forward to working with Premier Smith and my colleagues to support the proper use of the Constitution to protect Alberta, to produce freedom and prosperity for Alberta families and individuals.”
