All boats, jet skis, kayaks and other watercraft entering Alberta’s east or south borders must be inspected

Effective this month, all boats, jet skis, kayaks and other watercraft entering via Alberta’s east or south boundaries must be inspected for invasive mussels.

The province says it is currently 100 per cent free of the tiny invaders but it says the risk is growing across North America.

If the nearest station is closed, the province says inspections are still required within seven days and before launching into any Alberta waterbody.

Fines of up to 42-hundred dollars can be issued for non-compliance.
