The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce (SEACC) has announced it has been named the 2024 Chamber of the Year by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce, recognizing outstanding achievement among chambers with more than 500 members.

Chamber officials note this prestigious honour reflects a year of transformative growth, regional collaboration, and unwavering commitment to the business community. In 2023–2024, SEACC says it expanded its reach from three to eight municipalities and welcomed over 160 new members—an unprecedented milestone in its 125-year history.

“This award is a testament to the strength of our members, the dedication of our team, and the power of regional partnerships,” said Steven Pudwell, President of the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce. “We’re honoured to be recognized for the work we’ve done together to build a stronger, more connected business community.”

Over the past year, SEACC says it hosted more than 100 events, including the successful launch of a new trade show in Brooks, adding to the current Spring Show hosted in Medicine Hat. According to Chamber officials, the combined expos drew nearly 9,000 attendees. Officials say the Chamber also led 26 advocacy events, passed 27 policy resolutions, and held over 70 meetings with government officials—amplifying the voice of local business at every level.

In addition to its external impact, SEACC says it focused on internal excellence—modernizing its bylaws, enhancing board governance, and expanding its team to better serve members. Officials say the Chamber also secured the bid to host the 2024 Alberta Chambers of Commerce AGM, bringing provincial attention to Southeast Alberta during its quasquicentennial year.

“This recognition isn’t just about what we’ve accomplished—it’s about where we’re going,” said Executive Director Lisa Kowalchuk. “We’re committed to continuing this momentum, advocating for our members, and creating opportunities that drive economic growth across the region.”

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce thanks its members, partners, and community leaders for their continued support and shared vision for a thriving Southeast Alberta.
