Mike Robert Sehn
March 5, 1935 – April 13, 2025
It is with profound sadness that the family of Mike Robert Sehn announces his passing on April 13, 2025, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Born in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, on March 5, 1935, to Linus and Frances Sehn. Mike lived a life rich in family, faith, and the joy of creation. Mike’s life was a testament to hard work, unwavering dedication, and a deep love for his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Violet, and their children: Bryan Sehn, Carmen (Dave) Both, Jody (Rod) Hazard, Janice Johnson, and Calvin (Jodi) Sehn. He leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Kyle Both, Brandon (Shannon) Hazard, Tanis Hazard, Justin Hazard, Jaylaine Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Karissa Sehn, and Brayden Sehn; and eight great-grandchildren who he spoke about with pride and happiness. He is also survived by his brother, Ed Sehn.
Mike’s early years instilled in him a strong work ethic and a remarkable talent for building and creating. This aptitude served him well throughout his life, whether he was honing his welding skills at Joyline Transport in Medicine Hat (where he moved with his young family in 1967) or fulfilling his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing his own successful business, “Mike’s Welding,” in Redcliff, Alberta. His creativity extended beyond the workplace; he found immense satisfaction in tending his garden and crafting beautiful and functional items, reflecting both skill and love. Mike’s life was marked by his infectious sense of humor, his captivating storytelling, and his deep connection to nature and his beloved dogs. He cherished visits with family and friends, sharing his countless anecdotes and creating lasting memories. He found solace and peace in tending his garden, observing wildlife, and appreciating the simple beauty of the natural world. His sociable spirit was a constant; he genuinely loved sharing in the lives of those around him. His faith was a cornerstone of Mike’s life. A devout Catholic, his deep faith provided him comfort and peace, particularly during his final years, supported by the loving care of those around him.
He is predeceased by his firstborn child, Kim Sehn; his parents, Linus and Frances Sehn; and his brothers, Tim Sehn and Nick Sehn.
Mike’s legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched. His memory will be a source of comfort to all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
