Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Medicine Hat, much of southeast Alberta

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued Monday afternoon for Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and much of southeast Alberta.

The Environment Canada alert warned that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms may produce severe weather until this evening and there is a risk of a tornado, the national weather agency said.
