Jun 4, 2025 | 9:10 AM

A pair of handguns reported stolen out of Redcliff, AB, were among those seized alongside an estimated $320,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine in Calgary last month.

According to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), a total of three handguns were seized and a Calgary man has been arrested.

ALERT Calgary’s organized crime team seized the drugs on May 22, 2025, at an apartment in the southeast Calgary neighbourhood of Seton. The Calgary Police Service (CPS) provided assistance with the search warrant execution and arrest.

ALERT seized the following items:

  • Three loaded handguns;
  • Hundreds of rounds of ammunition;
  • 2,002 grams of cocaine;
  • 2,008 grams of methamphetamine;
  • $51,000 cash.

Officials say the firearms will be submitted to ALERT’s Provincial Firearms Lab for further ballistics testing and analysis. The third handgun seized was previously reported stolen from Pincher Creek, AB.

“The combination of drugs and handguns yield a considerable threat to community safety. We continue to work with our partners to target dangerous offenders,” said Staff Sgt. Hayley Marquis, ALERT Calgary.

ALERT says the suspect in the case has a lifetime firearms prohibition due to a previous conviction for drug-related offences.

According to officials, the suspect is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and multiple firearms-related offences.

ALERT began investigating the man’s suspected drug trafficking activity in April 2025.

Members of the public who suspect drug or gang activity in their community can call local police or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is always anonymous.

ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta Government and is a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime.
