Minister Schulz says Competition Bureau guidelines on environment claims send the wrong signal at the wrong time

Alberta’s environment minister is speaking out against the federal anti-greenwashing guidelines that were released on Thursday.
The Competition Bureau considered more than 400 responses to the greenwashing provisions in the new Competition Act, which states companies environmental claims must be based on “adequate and proper testing.”
One guideline from the bureau states that the courts should be interpreting terminology included in the legislation.
Rebecca Schulz says fancy rhetoric and mixed messaging won’t help fulfill the federal government’s promise to make Canada an energy superpower.
