Matilda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Her life was honoured through a celebration held on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Medicine Hat. She was born on January 15, 1932, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, a few minutes after her twin sister, Agnes, and a surprise to her parents, Margaret and Andrew Giesinger. She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Janet Schlinker and her siblings, Agnes (Frank) Hopfauf, Edmund Giesinger and Albert Giesinger. Matti will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Ralph, her husband of 72 years; her children, Donna (Chris) Massini, Linda (Eldon) Barrand, Dave (Joanne) Schlinker, Nancy (Brent) Stegweit, Jim (Hermie) Schlinker and Paula (Todd) Schlinker. She was cherished by her 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as her many nieces, nephews and their families. Matti enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking for her family and friends. She was an avid reader, crossword enthusiast and competitive cribbage player. Matti cherished the many friendships she made throughout her lifetime. The strength of her family is a testament to the unwavering love and dedication she gave them throughout her life.
